In Praise of the Buddha

Images of the Buddha and devotional objects are valued both for home and temple worship. Ceramics have been widely used, providing low cost access for all to worship, while ceramic technology has played an important part in the production of Buddhist images and devotional objects in bronze and other metalwares.
For this last NSW CSG meeting this year, we have invited a number of experts to share their knowledge with the group including Jackie Menzies, who will discuss Buddhist figures and symbols on ceramics and Wendy Parker, who will outline the role of ceramics in the production of metalwares.
Members are encouraged to bring ceramic images of the Buddha and other Buddhist deities as well as ceramic objects and vessels with Buddhist associations for discussion.
