Tour of Clay Dynasty Exhibition

In this special event for TAASA members, exhibition curator Eva Czernis-Ryl will introduce the exhibition while ceramics expert John Freeland will take us through the exhibition to highlight the influence of East Asian ceramics on the development of Australian studio pottery and studio ceramics.

Eva Czernis-Ryl is Curator, Arts & Design, at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. Her interests encompass decorative arts and design from the 17th century to now, mainly European and Australian. At the Powerhouse, she is responsible for a range of collection areas from ceramics and glass to metalwork and jewellery.

John Freeland has been a social policy academic and advocate, international education manager, and ran the Freeland Gallery for ceramic art in Sydney from 2006 to 2009. He has a major collection of Australian, Japanese and Korean ceramics, and has written extensively on the ceramic art of those countries.
