The Peter Elliott Collection – Special Viewing

The Peter Elliott Collection of fine Australian Art, Asian Arts, Oceanic Art and Artefacts and European Decorative Arts is one of extraordinary quality, depth and diversity, acquired over seventy years by a dedicated and passionate collector. It is extremely rare to see such an extensive collection at auction in this country.

Dr Peter Elliott’s interest in Chinese and South East Asian ceramics and works of art was fuelled by his travels throughout Asia during the 1970s and ’80s, where his medical work frequently took him. He had a particular interest in Ming Dynasty blue and white ceramics and Song Dynasty ceramics. The Asian section of his collection is diverse and in addition to the Ming and Song ceramics, features Chinese snuff bottles, Japanese surimono and woodblock prints, Korean celadons and Khmer sculpture.

Exclusive to this TAASA viewing, Professor Elizabeth Elliott will talk about her father as a collector. In addition, Luke Guan, Mossgreen’s Chinese and Asian art specialist, will discuss the ceramics in the collection.

Refreshments will be provided. There is plentiful parking at the Entertainment Quarter.
