Cowra Japanese Garden
TAASA invites you to a weekend of activities to celebrate the Sakura Matsuri at the Cowra Japanese Garden, the largest Japanese garden in the southern hemisphere spanning 12.5 acres. The festival on the Saturday offers a large range of cultural activities, demonstrations and workshops such as Kabuki Theatre, a choir, drummers, dancing, kimono displays, sumo wrestling, origami, Ikebana, bonsai and a tea ceremony. These activities will be open from 9.30am to 5pm on the Saturday.
On Sunday 27 September, 9.30 – 11.30 am, an exclusive TAASA guided tour of the collection of the Garden’s Cultural Centre is planned. The Centre claims to hold hundreds of items of world class Japanese art and artefacts. The collections tour will be followed by a TAASA Guided Garden Tour from 12 to 1.30pm.

Members will need to arrange their own transport and accommodation which should be booked well in advance given the popularity of the Matsuri Festival. It is recommended that members arrive on Friday 25 September. We can assist members to pool transport and recommendations can be provided for restaurants. If there is sufficient interest, we will organise a group dinner on the Saturday evening. For further information please email Karen Byatt via admin@taasa.org.au.
Cost: $110 includes entry on both days to the Garden and Cultural Centre and the TAASA guided tours of the Cultural Centre followed by the Gardens on the Sunday.
If you have previously lodged an Expression of Interest please now make your booking.
Please make bookings by 21 August.
An email will be sent to everyone who has booked with further details of arrangements in the last week of August.
