Saturday 14 September, 10:15 am – 3:30 pm. NGA and ANU Drill Hall Gallery.

Big Day out in Canberra PROGRAM

Morning: National Gallery of Australia, Parkes Place, Parkes
10.15 am Meet at in the Level 1 foyer prior to moving into the galleries to enjoy Duto Hardono: In harmoniaprogression, a live vocal performance of action and reaction that transforms language, evoking universal forms of human communication. Realised by a local choir throughout the Gallery, In harmonia progressio creates new improvised compositions with every performance. A public performance in association with Contemporary Worlds: Indonesia.

11.30 am Reconvene in the Temporary Exhibitions Gallery foyer for a tour of Contemporary Worlds: Indonesia with Carol Cains, Senior Curator of Asian Art.

12.30 – 2 pm Enjoy lunch at the National Gallery café, or anywhere you fancy, or stay on-theme and view Yayoi Kusama’s installation SPIRITS OF THE PUMPKINS DESCENDED INTO THE HEAVENS 2017.

Afternoon: ANU Drill Hall Gallery, Kingsley Street, Acton
2 pm Meet at the Drill Hall Gallery entrance to enjoy a conversation between artist Savanhdary Vongpoothorn and Drill Hall Gallery Director Terence Maloon about All that arises, a solo exhibition examining over two decades of Vongpoothorn’s practice.

3.30 pm Meet for a drink in the Hyatt Hotel – purchase your own drinks at the bar and join together in the garden for a chat.
