Asian Art Viewing at Bonhams

Join us for a private viewing of Bonham’s upcoming Asian art sale. There will be a talk by Mr Larry Lucas on a selection of the 75 pieces he is selling. His collection features Chinese, and Southeast Asian ceramics and works of art, and Tibetan Buddhist images and artefacts, from Neolithic period to the 19thcentury. Highlights include a Yongle-period ‘sweet white’ anhua decorated ‘lotus’ dish, and a 18th century Sino-Tibetan gilt copper alloy repoussé figure of Tsong Kharpa.

In addition there will be a brief talk by Yvett Klein, Bonhams Asian Art expert, about the interesting provenance behind paintings in the sale. The five private collections of paintings feature over 70 paintings and calligraphies, surveying a period from 16th century to the present day, from artists in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Notable are the final 9 works, all attributed to Pan Tianshou, from the same Sydney/ Singapore collection offered with Bonhams Sydney in Nov 2017 and May 2018. Those sales achieved a combined value of AU$8.6M IBP; the eight works attributed to Pan Tianshou alone were AU$3.9M IBP.
